Testimonials
Having suffered with chronic lower back pain for over twenty years, I have sought a variety of treatments for this condition. These treatments were with various orthopedic physicians, rehabilitation doctors and other physical therapists. I even sought treatment from a chiropractor. Nothing seemed to work very well in eliminating the pain and discomfort for very long periods of time.
Approximately two years ago, I was treated by Mr. Skinner. He initiated an exercise program that he specifically designed for me. It included a cardiovascular component as well specific weight training and stretching routines.
By following this course of therapy, practicing good posture, and carefully watching how I lift everyday objects (i.e., my grandchildren), I have vastly improved the quality of my life. I have been free of the debilitating back spasms I used to suffer from as well as the need for several days of bed rest.
Since my condition is of a degenerative nature, I am well aware that I need to practice Mr. Skinner's course of treatment indefinitely. It has become part of my daily routine. I am extremely grateful to have benefited for his unique approach in treating chronic back pain.
Swinging a golf club was so painful I thought I would have to give up the sport. I decided to go to the doctor to see if anything could be done. Many other symptoms were beginning to make me wonder (like lifting a gallon of milk) if I would ever get better. The doctor diagnosed the pain as rotator cuff inflammation, and prescribed an evaluation by a physical therapist.
In just a few weeks I was able to do the daily lifting, and a few weeks later returned to my golf league!! Brad not only prescribed effective exercises, but he taught me why I was doing them. In addition, he helped me make some lifestyle changes to help prevent a reoccurrence of the problem. Brad was thorough and personal. I learned a lot and healed in a very short time. Without hesitation I would visit Brad again for the professional care I received in such a personal way.
I welcome the opportunity to cite my experiences and reactions to my physical therapy. First, my reaction to the facilities and personnel is very favorable. The equipment is the latest design and covers a wide variety of activities in a spacious surrounding. The personnel is friendly and accommodating to my needs.
Second, the focus of the therapy is on activities that fit my situation. I am limited by a degree of neuropathy in my legs. Some therapy is directed toward improving walking and balance. Other activities strengthen my whole body. New exercises are added to keep up my interest as well as my physical capabilities.
Third, there is periodic measurement of progress, as well as feedback of improvement at each session.
Fourth, my attitude toward exercising ("theraplay") has become more positive so that I exercise more at home than I have in the past. Also, when my sessions are over, I feel more positive about myself.
Thank you for the opportunity to review my experiences and I hope that others will experience similar gains.

Dear Brad, Jeff, and Tammy,
I have been coming to Sport & Spine Physical Therapy for about 16 months now, & that must be some sort of a record. It certainly has given me time to evaluate the service & results at Sport & Spine. It started with intense knee pain, and beginning conservative treatment by my ortho doctor, recommending physical therapy, in August of '06. I chose S&S because I have had a long & lasting friendship with the Skinner family.
While PT did not alleviate the pain initially, Brad was encouraging & felt the exercises were a necessary preparation for the next step, which was arthroscopic surgery. So again, after this surgery, I was hack in PT with S&S. The exercises helped a great deal, but were not enough to eliminate the pain, thus the ortho doctor recommended the next step, total knee replacement The ortho doctor was impressed with the condition of my muscles prior to surgery & this contributed greatly to a faster recovery after surgery, again with S&S.
Between sessions of physical therapy for my knee, I had a minor bicycle accident & needed physical therapy on my elbow. I know this therapy was essential in recovery of full movement in my elbow. I credit (& thank) Brad & his associates for both recoveries (knee & elbow).
Brad & his staff have created an atmosphere of acceptance with sincere encouragement based in reality. They give you a sense of pride in accomplishment for healthy advancement, no matter how minor. And they emphasize the importance of seemingly minor improvements.
All the staff have a broad & deep knowledge of treatment options. They are also rooted in reality. They recognize how difficult it is to maintain a workout regime, & offer encouragement without preaching.
After all the physical therapy I have had at Sport & Spine, I have chosen to continue working out under their "Wellness Program" and have brought my wife into the program also.
She too has found enjoyment in healthy movement and improvement in physical appearance.
Sincerely,
